Hudson River Park's Pier 84

New York, NY, US, 10013

For the first time we’re combining the popular Sunset Fishing with Oyster Restoration and Intro to Stand Up Paddleboarding into one JAM PACKED night of helping, playing and loving the Hudson River.

After your evening of outdoors, head to Filson Happy Hour Perdition NYC to enjoy a refreshing Sierra Nevada brew with other adventurers and the folks from Filson. The best part? The first round of drinks is on Filson (just bring a copy of your Eventbrite ticket).

Here’s how it works – there is ONE ticket price ($50) and it includes access to all three activities. You will pick your “group” at registration and that group will have a specific rotation (see more on that below). That means, if you don’t think you’ll get out of work until late and you *really* want to go fishing, choose Group 3, as that’s the group that rotate to fishing last.

There are three groups:

Group 1

Group 2

A. Oyster Restoration

Oysters are more than just delicious. New York City is restoring oysters to filter water, engineer reef habitat, and stabilize shorelines.  Work alongside Park staff to restore oysters and learn how these bivalves benefit the health of the River. (Consumption of NYC oysters is illegal and dangerous).

B. Stand Up Paddleboarding 101

This intro to the fastest growing watersport around: SUP!  This session will include a short on-land technique demo followed by actually paddling! All gear is provided including life jackets.

C. Fishing

Fish on!  Nothing beats catch-and-release fishing on a summer night. Unwind with a pole in hand at Hudson River Park’s Pier 84 and learn fishing basics from trained Park staff. Rods, reels, bait and instruction are provided.

About your hosts:

MKC strives to provide a fun ‘outside’ environment in the middle of the city. We form educated paddlers so they are capable to explore the busy waterways of New York City, enjoy the sites and get away without being far away. Accessible, adventurous, fitness oriented, outdoor fun for all!

Hudson River Park is a 550-acre park and estuarine sanctuary from Chambers Street to W. 59th Street in Manhattan.  It includes four miles of waterside esplanade, 16 reconstructed public piers to date, four dedicated boat houses for sailing, rowing and paddling, and numerous other places to play, learn and relax.  The Park also provides valuable habitat for more than 70 species of fish and 100 species of birds. Today, Hudson River Park is one of the most heavily visited open spaces in New York City, attracting 17 million visits annually.
