Head down to the Ecology Center to finish your week enjoying views of the East River as the sun sets and the light turns “magic.”
Tonight is sunset fishing and hanging out on the East River with the Ecology Center. Bait, tackle, and refreshments will be provided (or bring your own), plus basic fishing instruction and other activities to explore the estuary and discover the Ecology Center’s environmental education and stewardship opportunities.
About your host:
The Lower East Side Ecology Center (Ecology Center) has been pioneering community-based models in urban sustainability since 1987. The Ecology Center was founded by Christine Datz-Romero and Clyde Romero, long-time residents of the Lower East Side, who believes in a people-centered and people-powered approach to creating an urban ecology that includes green and healthy living through recycling, reuse and waste reduction. Over the last 30 years, the community-based models pioneered by the Ecology Center have been replicated by city agencies and other non-profits across NYC.
Today, we continue to provide unique e-waste and composting services, environmental stewardship opportunities, and educational programming. We offer opportunities to all New Yorkers to learn about environmental issues and take responsibility for creating solutions through action.
